"The Portrait Show 12 - "Myth" at
Modern Eden Gallery

Inari re-glazed-intensity-20-V1

My latest oil painting, Inari Okami, will be in Modern Eden Gallery’s 12th annual portrait exhibition, Myth.   The exhibit displays imaginative portrait paintings that depict one of the gods, goddesses, heroes, heroines, beasts, or benevolent beings of global mythology. These archetypes have long been creative food for artists throughout history, and by bringing their narratives into to the form of portraiture a deeper connection to the mythological being can be understood.   Inari Okami is a venerated deity (Kami) of prosperity, foxes, agriculture and rice in the Shinto belief system. A large number of shrines in Japan are dedicated to this kami. Opening Reception: June 15, 6 - 9 PM
On View: June 15–July 4, 2024

“We Are Present, Artists with Asian Roots” -
Exhibit at Kitsune Community Studio
America is a melting pot of many different cultures. Learning about other cultures enriches our world and expands how we interact. This exhibition, curated by renowned artist Na Omi Judy Shintani, focuses on artists with Asian roots. What do we choose to reveal, express, and explore, and why?

I have two yokai paintings in this exhibit, and there are works by well known Bay and Coastside Asian American artists in this show.

This will be the first coastside exhibition focusing on contemporary Asian artists. It is on view during May/June, in sync with Asian/Pacific American Heritage Month
